Silver Nickels

With the value of silver coins in general causing an intrinsic interest in the value of precious metals by not only coin collectors but investors as well, it is no wonder that the silver nickel coins are viewed as an opportunity to acquire silver in small quantities for relatively unrelated reasons.

One example is the historical correlation between silver and World War Two era coin collectors. Although the silver coins minted from 1942 to 1945 contain fifty six percent copper, nine percent manganese, and thirty five percent silver they are commonly referred to as Wartime nickels. So looking beyond any numismatic value the overall interest in the melt value so to speak is directly tied to multiples of the overall face value of the coin.
